MEISTERSTRASSE celebrated its 25th anniversary at London Craft Week

As part of London Craft Week 2025, MEISTERSTRASSE – International Showcase of Craftsmanship presented an exhibition at the Austrian Embassy in London for the third time. The event celebrated the 25th anniversary of the platform for outstanding craftsmanship founded by Nicola and Christoph Rath.

Ambassador Bernhard Wrabetz, together with the hosts, welcomed numerous guests from the worlds of diplomacy, business, culture, and design to the opening. In their remarks, Christoph and Niki Rath looked back on the development of MEISTERSTRASSE, which has grown since its founding in 2001 into an international network with more than 5,000 producers worldwide.

The anniversary exhibition, titled “From Austrian Hands to Global Spaces,” showcased Austrian craftsmanship. A total of 18 Austrian companies—or companies with close ties to Austria—presented their work and demonstrated how tradition, innovation, and contemporary design can be successfully combined.

A special highlight of the evening was the world premiere of the new Lanserring Cocktail Cabinet, developed specifically for London Craft Week. Designed in London and handcrafted in Styria, this piece of furniture brought together the work of three renowned Austrian family-owned companies: Lanserring, Lobmeyr, and Wittmann. While Lobmeyr presented iconic glass objects, Wittmann showcased Josef Hoffmann’s famous KUBUS armchair. Together, they exemplified the fusion of artisanal heritage and contemporary design.

Bösendorfer ambassador Tomoko Mayeda (violin) and Junko Urayama (piano) provided the musical accompaniment with an Austrian program. At the reception that followed, featuring Austrian specialties, the guests took the opportunity to speak personally with the artisans in attendance.

The event made it clear that craftsmanship today is much more than just the preservation of tradition: it stands for quality, sustainability, innovation, and international networking—values that MEISTERSTRASSE has successfully embodied for 25 years.
