“As a designer, I’m interested in the moment when material, space, and people come into contact. In my process, I call this the ‘Point of Contact."
Mareike Lienau , Berlin
Textile spatial objects in dialogue with architecture serve as anchors

My work emerges from the specific location. I develop textile spatial objects for architecture and hospitality that respond to use, atmosphere, and context and are conceived as an integral part of the design.
I conceive and design every object myself. Production takes place in close collaboration with specialized workshops in Nepal, where work is carried out under fair and sustainable conditions. The local craftsmanship is an integral part of the design and shapes the quality and depth of the work.
Wool and plant-based fibers serve as a connecting medium between architecture, object, and people. Their calm, physical presence creates orientation and a sense of closeness within the space. My approach captures the moment when perception transforms into connection.
This results in works that do not overwhelm spaces, but rather make them legible and create a lasting resonance within the space.

Hand-knotted wool – a global dialogue

The objects are crafted in close collaboration with specialized workshops in Nepal. Production is based on traditional craftsmanship and takes place under fair, socially responsible, and sustainable conditions.
Hand-spun wool and plant-dyed fibers are used. Every step is the result of careful coordination between design and execution. Material, technique, and artisanal knowledge intertwine and determine the final result.
This results in a quality shaped by time, experience, and precision.

Edition of 25_ Pouf_Charactere

Edition 25 brings together selected works, as well as my POUF_Characters. Each object in Edition 25 embodies a distinct interpretation of what I understand as a “Point of Contact.”
The works emerge from an engagement with place, material, and relationship. They are not intended as variations, but as independent characters, each with its own presence, density, and impact in space.
Within the edition, the design becomes comprehensible. Recurring principles connect the objects, while each piece articulates its own stance.
